Winter Activities Bundle

Unit studies are fun no matter the occasion because they make learning feel like an adventure. Kids get to dive into a subject they are passionate about which sparks curiosity and excitement. Unit studies often include crafts, experiments, projects, field trips, and other fun activities. They are a great way to foster a love for learning in your homeschool.

We have done a variety of unit studies through the years, usually based on what my kids were interested in at the time, or sometimes it was a rabbit hole we went down that started in another subject. Christmas is a fun time to explore and learn about the traditions and customs of the holiday season.

Create Your Own

If you can’t find the perfect unit study, consider making your own. We do this in our history lessons almost weekly. A unit study can be as deep & long or short & sweet as you need it to be. Think of a plan and gather materials. There are a variety of tools to use:

  • Curriculum – textbooks, workbooks
  • Books/literature- any genre, any subject, picture books, historical, etc.
  • Videos- YouTube, documentaries, musicals
  • Subjects- Math, LA, History, Geography, Science, Music, Art
  • Extras- Field trips, events, food, crafts, projects, experiments, games
  • Assess- Discussion questions, research papers, speeches, character study, dress-up report
