Christmas is such a busy time: decorations, parties, gift-wrapping, and all the traditions; it’s easy for the season to fly by without us really stopping to think about what it’s all about. I put this simple Bible study together with the goal of keeping Jesus at the center of Christmas. I believe mini Bible studies are effective because they keep the child’s attention and teach lessons in smaller chunks of information. They are also easier to fit into this busy time of year.

Why a Mini Bible Study for Kids?

A mini Bible study offers several unique advantages over a longer one, especially for busy seasons or for introducing kids and new learners to Scripture. Mini-Bible studies are easier to fit into busy schedules and can be completed in only a few minutes each day. They tend to keep the child’s attention and interest and offer enhanced focus on a particular subject. They are a perfect choice for introducing the Bible in a way that’s engaging, effective, and easy to maintain. They serve as a wonderful stepping stone into deeper Bible study over time.

What’s in This Mini Study?

I wrote this Bible study with the intent to dive daily into a short Bible passage that tells part of Jesus’ story—from the promise of His birth to the shepherds and wise men celebrating Him. Each lesson includes:

  • A Bible reading (just a few verses, so it’s easy to fit in).
  • Questions that spark conversation, helping kids connect with the story.
  • An open-ended question to encourage them to think and share their own thoughts.
  • A fun, hands-on activity to bring the lesson to life—because learning is always better when it’s interactive!

10 Bible Stories That Teach Us to Be Thankful

How It Works

This study is 3 full weeks long, meant to be done between Thanksgiving and Christmas. You can set aside a little time each day—maybe at breakfast or right before bed—to read and chat about the day’s story. No big prep needed, just a Bible, some quiet time, and your family. Here’s what’s covered each week:

Week 1: Promises of a Savior: Starting with some Old Testament prophecies, we look at how God promised a Savior long before Jesus was born. It helps kids understand that Jesus was always part of God’s plan for us and that even the Old Testament points us toward Jesus.

Week 2: God’s Promise Fulfilled: This week, we walk through the angel’s visits to Mary and Joseph as well as Mary’s visit with Elizabeth.

Week 3: The Birth of Christ: We wrap up with Jesus’ birth, the angels’ announcement to the shepherds, and the wise men’s journey. These stories are all about joy and celebration, and they remind us why Christmas is so special.

This study works best if done with parent involvement. Ask questions, discuss other events around the time of Christ’s birth, and allow kids to express their thoughts concerning the topic. This Christmas Mini Bible Study could be used for multiple age groups and ability levels.
